Rumors : Canon EOS R5 Mark II to Shoot 8K Video at 60p

According to recent rumors, Canon aims to reclaim the top spot in the full-frame camera market with the EOS R5 Mark II, pushing specs for both stills and video. One exciting rumor claims the camera could shoot 8K RAW video at up to 60fps. This massive frame rate boost would require additional power and cooling – which Canon may address with their patented external cooling accessory seen in recent patents.

While details about the EOS R5 Mark II’s specifications are still scarce, it is unlikely to see a substantial increase in resolution. The current 45-megapixel resolution is considered by many to be the sweet spot, striking an optimal balance between image quality and file size.

If you are asking about the official announcement date for Canon EOS R5 Mark II, it won’t happen until early 2024, potentially ahead of the CP+ show in February, prototypes are said to be in the hands of Canon’s test photographers. Rumors : Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM Lens Coming in Early 2024

New reports indicate that Canon will launch the updated RF 70-200mm F2.8 L IS USM lens with built-in zoom in 2024. This new lens may be called Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM Lens.

Many Canon sports photographers have continued using older EF 70-200mm models with adapters, preferring their internal zoom design. Sources say the current RF 70-200mm is seen as unbalanced and inconsistent in feel, with cramped ring placement.

An internally zooming RF 70-200mm f/2.8L would provide desired handling for this key user base. It’s unclear whether this would be a marked “version II” or simply a new offering in the RF lineup. The original collapsible design remains popular for its portability.

While Canon shooters also await other unreleased lenses, insiders expect numerous new RF optics will be announced in the next six months. An internal zoom 70-200mm f/2.8L is likely one of them. Continue reading “Rumors : Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM Lens Coming in Early 2024”
