In addition to the new R100 camera, Canon has announced the RF 28mm f/2.8 STM, a new pancake prime lens for its RF system. The US price for Canon RF 28mm f/2.8 STM lens is $299, now available for pre-order at  B&H Photo Video/Adorama/Amazon. Both EOS R100 and RF 28mm f/2.8 STM lens will be released in July 2023.

The lens delivers up to 0.17x magnification at a minimum focusing distance of 0.23m (9 inches). With a maximum outer diameter of 69mm and 25mm long, the lens is modest in profile. At 120g (4.2 oz) is is also rather light as well.

It’s intended for travel, street and everyday use and could make a good partner for vlogging with the Canon R50 as it weighs just 120g and is only 24.7mm long.
