Canon EOS R100 & RF 28mm f/2.8 STM Price Leaked

Canon will soon announce the new Canon EOS R100 APS-C entry-level camera and RF 28mm f/2.8 STM Lens. The US price of the upcoming Canon EOS R100 & RF 28mm f/2.8 STM Lens already leaked online.

Canon EOS R100

  • Canon EOS R100 Body: $479
  • Canon EOS R100/ RF-S18-45 IS STM Lens Kit: $599
  • Canon EOS R100 Double Zoom Kit (18-45mm & 55-210mm): $829
  • Off-Camera Shoe Cord OC-E4A: $180

Canon RF 28mm f/2.8 STM Lens

  • RF 28mm f/2.8 STM Lens: $299
  • Lens Hood EW-55: $45

The entry-level RF mount will be the third model in the APS-C mirrorless camera lineup after the EOS R7 and EOS R10. The lens kit includes an 18-45mm lens, similar to the R10 and R50, and there is also a double zoom kit available.

The new RF 28mm F2.8 STM lens lacks IS and has a small aperture. It is expected to be compact and lightweight, fulfilling expectations for a portable lens option.

Based on product numbering and first leaked features, the EOS R100 will be positioned below the newly announced EOS R10 ($979 at B&H, Adorama).

Canon Released Firmware Update v1.3.0 for the EOS R10

Canon has released a minor firmware update for the Canon EOS R10. You can follow the links below to download the new Canon firmware updates.

Canon EOS R10 v.1.3.0

  1. Compatible with Speedlite EL-5. *The automatic dimming function of the AF-assist light is not supported.
  2. Added support for RF-S55-210mm F5-7.1 IS STM.
  3. Fixed minor bugs.

New Canon Firmware Updates : EOS R3, EOS R7 and EOS R10

Canon firmware updates for the Canon EOS R3 full frame,  Canon EOS R7 and EOS R10 APS-C mirrorless cameras have been released. You can find all the details and download link below.

Canon EOS R3 firmware ver. 1.2.2 (download), incorporates the followingCanon EOS R3 fixes:

  1. Fixes an issue that, in rare instances, displays an Error Code 70 when the camera is capturing small subjects.
  2. Fixes an issue that, in rare instances, may result in image files not being recorded properly when the battery is removed from the camera while the power switch is set to <on> or <lock>.

Canon EOS R7 firmware ver. 1.1.0 (download), incorporates the following enhancement:

  1. Supports Cloud RAW image processing.*
    • It is necessary to purchase a subscription plan for Cloud RAW image processing from Canon. The service will start on July 25. *Please note that before the firmware is updated, images added using the [Add images to process] option cannot be processed, so please use the [Check/remove selected images] option to cancel image processing. Please use the [Add images to process] option again only after having updated the firmware to Version 1.1.0.

Canon EOS R10 firmware ver. 1.1.0 (download), incorporates the following enhancement:

  1. Supports Cloud RAW image processing.*

Canon EOS R50 to be Announced in Q1 of 2023

The latest reports suggest that in the first quarter of 2023, Canon will unveil a number of new products. One of them will be a RF mount APS-C mirrorless camera called “EOS R50”. It’s likely that the previously rumored “EOS R100” were referring to the new Canon EOS R50.

The entry-level RF mount will be the third model in the APS-C mirrorless camera lineup after the EOS R7 and EOS R10.

In terms of the naming scheme, it seems that this new camera to be the successor to the EOS M50 (EOS Kiss M). Expect several EF-M lenses will be replaced with RF-S lenses at the same time.

For the time being, neither the specs nor the expected announcement date are known. Canon EOS R50 might be unveiled at the CP+ Show 2023, which is scheduled for February.

Here are the rumored Canon EOS R100 specifications.  Canon will be announcing the new “EOS R100“  in next several weeks, probably in later this year. The entry-level RF mount will be the third model in the APS-C mirrorless camera lineup after the EOS R7 and EOS R10. The Canon EOS R100 is expected to replace already discontinued EOS M6 Mark II.

The newly announced Canon EOS R10 is now in stock and shipping in most US stores Amazon, B&H, Adorama. The camera body costs $979, w/ 18-45 IS STM lens for $1,099 and w/18-150 IS STM lens for $1,379.

The new RF-S 18–45mm F4.5–6.3 IS STM and RF-S 18–150mm F3.5–6.3 IS STM are designed to be paired with the new EOS R7 and R10 cameras. All the products are now available for pre-order at B&H, Adorama.
