Canon RF 24mm F/1.8 Macro IS STM & RF 15-30mm F/4.5-6.3 IS STM Wide-Angle Lenses

Canon has expanded its range of RF lenses with the introduction of the Canon RF 24mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM lens and RF 15-30mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM. The two new affordable full-frame RF lenses are compatible with cameras such as the Canon EOS R, EOS RP and EOS R6.

The US price for RF 15-30mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM lens is $549, release date in August. The US price for RF 24mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM lens is $599, release date in August.

Canon RF 24mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM & RF 15-30mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM Lenses Listed Online

Canon will soon announce two new RF lenses. These two lenses are Canon RF 24mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM lens and RF 15-30mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM lens. The upcoming two Canon compact RF lenses already listed at Canon official web store.

The official announcement for both lenses are expected in August to September.

Canon RF 24mm F1.8 did not have “MACRO” in previous rumors, but this time it is described as “MACRO”, so it seems to be confirmed by macro. Also, Canon RF15-35mm had an aperture of F3.5-5.6 according to overseas rumors that had flowed before, but this time we see F4.5-6.3, so it seems to be a fairly compact lens. Canon RF 15-30mm IS STM, RF 24mm f/1.8 IS STM Lenses to be Announced Soon

According to Digicame-info, Canon will soon announce two new RF lenses: RF 15-30mm IS STM lens and RF 24mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM lens.

Canon RF 15-30mm IS STM Lens:
・ Lens hood: EW-73E
・ Lens cap: E-67II

Canon RF 24mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM Lens:
・ Lens hood: EW-65B
・ Lens cap: E-52II
・ Lens case: LP1016

Both lenses should be compact lenses, with a light weight and not very expensive price.

New Canon Patents for 28-70mm f/2.8 & 28-60mm f/2.8 Lenses

New Canon Patent applications filed for a set of RF mount lenses. These new lenses are the Canon RF 28-70mm f/2.8 & 28-60mm f/2.8.

Canon patent application 2022091621 (Japan) discusses optical formulas for two small and compact zoom lenses with large aperture:

  • 28-70mm f/2.8
  • 28-60mm f/2.8

Defocus Smoothing is a technology Canon first introduced with the RF 85mm f/1.2L DS lens. The featured Canon patent might suggest more DS lenses are on their way.

A new Canon rumor surfaced online, suggesting that the company might announce two lenses. According to the source rumored Canon RF lenses are RF 70-300mm f/2-4L IS And RF-S 33mm f/1L.

  • Canon RF-S 33mm f/1L USM lens
  • Canon RF 70-300mm f/2-4L IS USM: 1.6kg zoom lens that still has a large aperture of f/2.4 at 150mm. The image quality at 300mm should be equal to or even better than the already discontinued Canon EF 300mm f / 4L IS USM lens.
