This will be a cinema camera that is designed specifically for videographers, like a cinema/video-focus version of the Canon EOS R5. The Canon EOS R5c is expected to be announced in the first quarter of 2022.
The price will be “significantly less” than the Canon Cinema EOS C70, which is currently priced at $5499 USD.
So, what to expect from the Canon EOS R5C?
The Canon EOS R5C will come with a powerful cooling system, a slightly different form factor, and more codecs for video recording as well as a full-size HDMI port, and it is expected to have the same image sensor as the Canon EOS R5 and will have all of the same recording options (8K30 Raw and 4K120 10-Bit Internal Video). According to recent Canon rumors, the camera giant will definitely release at least one APS-C RF mount mirrorless camera in 2022. Currently, there is no information about new APS-C RF mount mirrorless camera will be an EOS R7 or just an RF mount EOS M mirrorless camera.
In 2022, Canon will also unveil the EOS R5C and EOS-R1. Stay tuned for more info.

We already know that Canon is working on a new Canon EOS R5C cinema camera that is designed specifically for videographers. Now we have several confirmations that the development of such a camera is on the way.
Initially, it was said that the Canon EOS R5C camera could be announced around NAB in October this year, but apparently it has been postponed to the first quarter of 2022. We think that Canon wants to release it within 60 days after its announcement.
The Canon EOS R5C camera is expected to have the same image sensor as the Canon EOS R5 and will have all of the same recording options (8K30 Raw and 4K120 10-Bit Internal Video). It is now confirmed that the Canon EOS R5C will be announced in late 2021. The release date of the EOS R system cinema camera is expected in early 2022.
We actually have quite detailed information on the Canon EOS R5C. As you will notice, the “C” symbol in the name of the EOS R5C indicates that this camera will be intended for cinema, ie video shooters.
The Canon EOS R5C cinema camera is expected to have the same image sensor as the Canon EOS R5 (Amazon, B&H) and all of the same video features (8K30 Raw and 4K120 10-Bit Internal Video).
The Canon EOS R5C will have a slightly bigger body with the active cooling system, and it will remain a hybrid camera for stills shooting. The C-Log 2 is also adopted for the Canon EOS R5C.
