A new Canon patent application spotted by asobinet.com that discusses optical formulas for a RF 28-70mm f/2.8L lens. The Canon RF Lens is a RF 28-70mm f/2.8L with inner focusing and that does not extend might be in the works.

The lens is indeed described to be shorter at the telephoto end (emphasis mine) in both embodiment:

Canon today officially announced the new Canon RF 5.2mm f/2.8L Dual Fisheye Lens. The US price is $1,999 and it will be released in late December 2021.

Canon RF 5.2mm f/2.8L USM Lens Coming Next

It is now confirmed by Nokishita that the next RF Lens coming from Canon will be the RF 5.2mm f/2.8L USM Lens. The details and announcement date is still unknown at the time of writing.

At the moment we only know that the Canon RF 5.2mm f/2.8L lens will be a dual fisheye VR lens (for virtual reality).

The full lens moniker is Canon RF 5.2mm f/2.8L Dual Fisheye.

It seems that Canon is entering VR with the EOS R system and this is definitely an interesting development for RF lenses.

Canon BSI APS-C EOS R Camera Coming in the Second Half of 2022

According to latest rumors, Canon is working on a new APS-C RF mount camera which is expected to be released in the second half of 2022.

Canon APS-C EOS R mirrorless camera will feature a backside-illuminated sensor. The resolution of this APS-c sensor is unknown at this time, but we expect it to have 28MP-32MP. This new BSI APS-C RF mount camera will probably be the long-awaited Canon EOS R7.

Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III firmware 1.3.0 incorporates the following enhancements:

1. Adds support for [Video Blog Recording Mode] setting to the [Movie Mode] function.
2. Adds support for [Zebra Settings] to the [Movie Mode] function.
3. Adds support for [Aspect marker] to the [Shooting information display setting] in [Movie Mode].
4. Adds support for [Recording emphasis] to the [Shooting information display setting].
5. Adds supports level display when AF mode is set to [Face + Tracking priority AF].

Firmware Version 1.3.0 is for cameras with firmware up to Version 1.2.0. If the camera’s firmware is already Version 1.3.0, it is not necessary to update the firmware.
