Canon BSI APS-C EOS R Camera Coming in the Second Half of 2022

According to latest rumors, Canon is working on a new APS-C RF mount camera which is expected to be released in the second half of 2022.

Canon APS-C EOS R mirrorless camera will feature a backside-illuminated sensor. The resolution of this APS-c sensor is unknown at this time, but we expect it to have 28MP-32MP. This new BSI APS-C RF mount camera will probably be the long-awaited Canon EOS R7.

Canon EOS R3 to Cost $5,999, RF 16mm for $299, RF 100-400mm for $ 649, DM-E1D for $299, ST-E10 for $119, and AD-E1 for $39

According to the latest rumors from N0kishita-C, the price of the Canon EOS R3 will stand at $5,999. The camera is already listed at B&H.

The leak also indicates that the upcoming Canon RF 16mm will cost  $299,   RF 100-400mm for $649, DM-E1D for $299, ST-E10 for $ 119, and AD-E1 for $39.

The price of $5,999  is exactly the same as the current  Fujifilm GFX 100S. At this price, it seems that it will be evaluated as cheap if the performance is comparable to the flagship machines of other companies.

Confirmed : Canon EOS R3 to Feature 24MP Sensor, Priced at €7,299?

Nokishita confirmed previous rumors about the Canon EOS R3 that the camera will feature a 24MP sensor. This information is based on a leak from a photo news website. It seems that there are many websites out there that receive information under NDA that is easily accessible online.

Another European retailer listed the Canon EOS R3 camera in their online store with a price tag of €7,299 (over $8,600). However the price tag doesn’t look accurate. Confirmed: Canon EOS R3 Announcement on September 14th

According to Canon Official Weibo (The Chinese Twitter), Canon will have a new product announcement on September 14th at 6:00 am EDT. We cna clearly expect the company to announce the new Canon EOS R3 mirrorless camera, RF 16mm f/2.8 USM lens and RF 100-400mm f/5.6-7.1 IS USM lens and some accessories for this major announcement.

Canon to Announce RF 16mm f/2.8 and RF 100-400mm Lenses Soon

Looks like Canon will soon announce new lenses for the RF mount. One of them might come with the form factor of a pancake lens.

Nokishita reports that an RF 16mm f/2.8 lens and an RF 100-400mm lens. Designed for Canon EOS R full frame mirrorless system, both lenses are expected to be announced soon.

The Canon RF 16mm f/2.8 lens is also a non-L prime lens which has not appeared on the roadmap until now. This lens is probably for a full-frame sensor, but it may also be a very useful wide-angle lens for APS-C cameras. The RF 16mm f/2.8 might be a pancake lens.

Sigma To Release New Contemporary Prime Lenses

Sigma is rumored to announce two new lenses full frame mirrorless cameras. The two Sigma lenses will be the Contemporary Prime Lenses and expected to be announced in the next few months.

From Nokishita:

One of the lenses that Sigma will announce next will be “90mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary”. The other one is “24mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary”.

Canon EOS R5C Rumored to be Announced in Q1 of 2022

We already know that Canon is working on a new Canon EOS R5C cinema camera that is designed specifically for videographers. Now we have several confirmations that the development of such a camera is on the way.

Initially, it was said that the Canon EOS R5C camera could be announced around NAB in October this year, but apparently it has been postponed to the first quarter of 2022. We think that Canon wants to release it within 60 days after its announcement.

The Canon EOS R5C camera is expected to have the same image sensor as the Canon EOS R5 and will have all of the same recording options (8K30 Raw and 4K120 10-Bit Internal Video). In addition, the Canon EOS R5C will be equipped with a powerful cooling system, a slightly different form factor, and more codecs for video recording as well as a full-size HDMI port, and it is expected to be a very attractive camera especially for those who mainly use videos for long turns.

Canon RF 16mm f/2.8 and RF 70-400mm f/5.6-7.1 IS USM Lenses Coming Soon

Along with the RF 14-35mm f/4L IS USM lens, Canon will allegedly announce  two RF lenses in the near future. These optics would be the RF 16mm f/2.8 and RF 70-400mm f/5.6-7.1 IS USM lenses.

The Canon RF 70-400mm f/5.6-7.1 IS USM lens is a non-L lens. The aperture of the Canon RF 70-400mm lens has not yet been confirmed, but it is rumored for F5.6-7.1.

The Canon RF 16mm f/2.8 lens is also a non-L prime lens which has not appeared on the roadmap until now. This lens is probably for a full-frame sensor, but it may also be a very useful wide-angle lens for APS-C cameras. I don’t think this lens will have a macro function.
