Canon EOS C70 Firmware Update v1.0.5.1 adds 4K Intra Recording Options and Eye AF

Canon has announced new firmware update for Canon Cinema EOS C70 camera ( Amazon, B&H, Adorama). The latest firmware updates for the RF-mount Cinema EOS camera give filmmakers even more flexibility with the addition of a range of features including eye detection and tracking, plus multi-cam setup support.

Highlights of firmware version 1.0.5.1 for the C70 include the addition of Eye Detection AF, Face Detection AF and Subject Tracking AF during Slow and Fast Recording, which ranges from 24p to 120p. The C70 will also now maintain its settings when switching between normal and Slow and Fast recording modes.

Canon EOS R50 to be Announced in Q1 of 2023

The latest reports suggest that in the first quarter of 2023, Canon will unveil a number of new products. One of them will be a RF mount APS-C mirrorless camera called “EOS R50”. It’s likely that the previously rumored “EOS R100” were referring to the new Canon EOS R50.

The entry-level RF mount will be the third model in the APS-C mirrorless camera lineup after the EOS R7 and EOS R10.

In terms of the naming scheme, it seems that this new camera to be the successor to the EOS M50 (EOS Kiss M). Expect several EF-M lenses will be replaced with RF-S lenses at the same time.

For the time being, neither the specs nor the expected announcement date are known. Canon EOS R50 might be unveiled at the CP+ Show 2023, which is scheduled for February.

Canon EOS R1 Release Date Might Be Delayed Until 2024

According to the latest Canon rumors, the upcoming flagship full frame mirrorless camera EOS R1 may not coming until 2024. The new rumored release date for EOS R1 is in 2024 and scheduled for summer games in Paris.

Until now, we had no idea what kind of camera the EOS R1 would be, but since information has come out that it will be the “king of resolution”, if this is true, it will be at least higher than the 61 million pixels of  Sony a7R V (B&H, Amazon, Adorama)

Currently, there is no rumored specs of Canon EOS R1. According to CR, the high megapixel full frame mirrorless camera EOS R5 S may coming before EOS R1 in next 6 to 12 months.
