TTArtisan releases $55 RF APS-C 25mm f/2 Lens

TTArtisan has announced a fully-manual 25mm F2 lens for RF and EF-M Canon mirrorless camera mounts that costs just $55.

The lens is constructed of seven elements in five groups and offers a roughly 38mm full-frame equivalent focal length (except on Micro Four Thirds where it’s a 50mm equiv). It uses a seven-blade aperture diaphragm, has a minimum focusing distance of 25cm (9.8”), uses a 43mm front filter thread and has an aperture range of F2 through F16.

Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM Lens Firmware v1.1.1 Released

A new Canon firmware update released.  Canon has published a minor update for the Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM. You can find the details of the Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM Lens Firmware v1.1.1 below with download links.

Firmware Version 1.1.1 incorporates the following fix:

  1. Fixes an issue, in which, in rare instances, “Err60” is displayed if zoom operations are performed when the camera is started.

Canon EOS R5 C Rejected for Netflix Certification

The Canon EOS R5 C has been rejected for Netflix Certification. This means Netflix has rejected the Canon EOS R5C for production certification. Also Canon doesn’t have any intention to address the issue like Sony did with the FX3.

Neither Netflix or Canon has spoken directly on why the camera was denied, but the only thing we think that the camera lacks Canon Log-2. There may be some other image quality reason that we don’t know about. The Canon EOS R5C seems to have every other feature required by Netflix for certification.

The Canon EOS R5 C  can still be used for productions, but footage from the camera cannot make up more than 10% of the total runtime of the production.

Canon To Announce 4 Wide-angle L-grade Primes For RF Mount

Here is a fresh Canon rumor. Canon is on the verge to announce four L-grade prime lenses for the RF mount within the next 12 months. As a reminder RF L-series lenses represent the very best in optical technology with faster performance and a whole new level of quality.

These are the rumored lenses:

  • Canon RF 12mm f/1.8L USM

  • Canon RF 24mm f/1.4L USM
  • Canon RF 28mm f/1.4L USM
  • Canon RF 35mm f/1.2L USM

Since we have already confirmed that RF 135mm f/1.8L USM lens will be announced soon, first of these Canon lenses could be the RF 24mm f/1.4L USM lens. Stay tuned for more info.

Canon has officially announced a series new camcorders, they are XA75, XA70, XA65, XA60 and VIXIA HF G70 camcorders.

Price & Availability

The Canon XA75 and XA70 professional camcorders are both scheduled to be available in November 2022 for an estimated retail price of $2,999.00 and $2,499.00 respectively.

The Canon XA65 and XA60 professional camcorders are both scheduled to be available in October 2022 for an estimated retail price of $2,299.00 and $1,799.00 respectively.

The Canon VIXIA HF G70 prosumer camcorder is scheduled to be available in October 2022 for an estimated retail price of $1,249.00.

Canon EOS R6 Mark II Coming with Stacked Sensor

According to latest rumors, Canon is currently testing the prototype of EOS R6 Mark II camera. The EOS R6 Mark II might feature with a stacked sensor, which is found in the Canon EOS R3.

Canon RF 300mm f/2.8L IS USM Lens to be Announced in the First Half of 2023

Canon is rumored to release two more super-telephoto prime lenses in early 2023. One of these lenses will be RF 300mm f/2.8L IS USM lens and according to recent rumors, this telephoto prime lens has been tested in the wild.

Canon has discontinued the EF 300mm f/2.8L IS II USM lens for a long time, so many Canon photographer are waiting for this lens.

According to Canon rumors, the company may announce the long awaited RF 300mm f/2.8L IS USM lens in the first half of 2023.

The Canon RF 300mm f/2.8L and RF 500mm f/4L are said to be much lighter and shorter than their EF mount counterparts. In addition, Canon may actually release the RF mount version of the 300 f/2.8 as a zoom.
