Canon officially announces the RF 14-35mm f/4L IS USM

MELVILLE, NY, June 29, 2021– Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, today announced the RF14-35mm F4 L IS USM lens. This dramatic new lens brings 14mm, ultra-wide-angle coverage to full-frame EOS R-series users. On top of the ultra-wide capabilities, the 14-35mm zoom range is the broadest ever in a Canon wide-angle zoom for full-frame AF cameras. For many Canon users, one single lens can potentially handle all wide-angle needs, from vivid, creative ultra-wide imagery to traditional street photography.

The new wide-angle lens is designed for use within the expanding family of EOS R full-frame mirrorless cameras, including the upcoming EOS R3, currently in development. Whether you capture stills, video, or like many creatives today – both – this new wide-angle lens from Canon can help elevate users’ content game when capturing images or video in a wide variety of situations, such as landscape, architecture, and travel.

Canon RF 16mm f/2.8 and RF 70-400mm f/5.6-7.1 IS USM Lenses Coming Soon

Along with the RF 14-35mm f/4L IS USM lens, Canon will allegedly announce  two RF lenses in the near future. These optics would be the RF 16mm f/2.8 and RF 70-400mm f/5.6-7.1 IS USM lenses.

The Canon RF 70-400mm f/5.6-7.1 IS USM lens is a non-L lens. The aperture of the Canon RF 70-400mm lens has not yet been confirmed, but it is rumored for F5.6-7.1.

The Canon RF 16mm f/2.8 lens is also a non-L prime lens which has not appeared on the roadmap until now. This lens is probably for a full-frame sensor, but it may also be a very useful wide-angle lens for APS-C cameras. I don’t think this lens will have a macro function. Confirmed : Canon EOS R3 Sensor is Designed and Manufactured by Canon

It is now confirmed that the Canon EOS R3 sensor is designed and manufactured by Canon.

Canon officially announced the development of the EOS R3 full-frame mirrorless camera and stated that the upcoming EOS R3 sensor “will feature Canon’s first-ever full-frame backside-illuminated stacked CMOS sensor that it designed in-house”.

But nearly a month after Canon EOS R3 development announcement, some sites reported that the sensor in the upcoming Canon EOS R3 could made by Sony.

To put an end to speculations, Canon has reiterated in no uncertain terms that it is not only the designer of the new sensor but also its manufacturer (via PetaPixel).

The sensor in the upcoming EOS R3 camera is Canon designed and manufactured.

This is the same statement that the company said to journalists in April ahead of the Canon EOS R3’s official development announcement.

The Canon EOS R3 will be an ideal mirrorless camera for sports, wildlife and news photographers.
